Short on time? Try: 6 Last-Minute Father’s Day Card Ideas

1) Start With a Father’s Day Template (Fastest Option)

If you want something quick, start with a Father’s Day template. Pick a style that fits your relationship, then swap in your photos and add one short note.

Pro tip: If you’re not sure where to start, our Father’s Day hub has templates, printable ideas, and what-to-write prompts, check it out here.

2) Easy Father’s Day Cards Kids Can Make

These ideas are simple for kids and sweet for grown-ups. Keep it light, let them add their own touches, and call it done.

  • “Best Dad” photo collage: Pick 3–6 favorite photos (a silly + sweet mix works great) and add one big “Best Dad” title.
  • Doodle-style card (no paint needed): Let your kids use our doodle tool to draw a one-of-a-kind card for Dad.
  • Color-in card: Start with a simple template, then let your kids go wild with stickers, doodles, and little decorations.
Cute Father’s Day card with a dad lifting a baby on a blue background, doodle stars, rainbow, rocket, and text ‘I love you to the moon and back’ — kids-style Father’s Day card.

3) Funny Card Ideas (Dad-Joke Friendly)

If laughter is your family’s love language, lean into it. We’ve got fun templates like Father’s Day: Dad Jokes and Father’s Day: Movie Poster, perfect when you want something playful and easy to personalize.

  • Dad-joke style card: Pick a “Dad Jokes” template and swap in a photo, then add your best (or worst) pun.
  • Meme-style card: One photo + a big caption (“Thanks for the dadvice”).
  • Movie poster card: Turn a favorite photo into a dramatic “feature film” poster starring Dad. Add a title, “cast,” and a silly tagline.

4) Sentimental Card Ideas (Short + Heartfelt)

Going sweet doesn’t mean writing a whole page. One photo and one honest line can say a lot.

  • “Reasons we love you” list: 5–10 quick bullets, one per line.
  • Then vs. now collage: Old photo + recent photo, with a one-line caption.
  • Gratitude card: One meaningful photo + one message that makes dad feel special.

Need help finding the words? Our How to Make the Perfect Father’s Day Card has a quick “Messages That Make Memories” section to help you out.

Sentimental Father’s Day card with a photo frame-style photo of a dad holding a baby, soft paper background, and message ‘To the man who made everything feel possible… Happy Father’s Day!’ — heartfelt photo card.

5) Father’s Day Card Ideas for Grandpa

Grandpa cards don’t need a big speech. A few family photos and one line from the heart goes a long way.

  • Family timeline: 3 photos across the years + “Love you, Grandpa.”
  • Grandkids collage: One photo per grandkid + a shared message line.
  • Classic + minimal: Clean background, elegant text, one favorite portrait.
Grandpa Father’s Day card with a grandpa and grandchild photo in an arch frame, blue background, sparkly accents, and large text ‘RAD GRANDDAD’ — cute grandparent photo card.

6) For Your Husband or Partner (From You or the Kids)

Keep it warm and specific. A small thank-you for the everyday things can hit the deepest.

  • “You’re our steady” card: One family photo + one line about what they do every day.
  • From-the-kids card: Use a template, add one kid quote, and one candid photo.
  • Weekend plans card: Add a small “coupon” section (“Breakfast in bed,” “Movie night,” etc.).
Father’s Day card template with hand-lettered text ‘You are a loving husband and a wonderful father’ and three vertical family photos by the ocean — sweet husband and dad photo card.

7) For a First-Time Dad

First Father’s Day can feel like a lot, in the best way. Keep the card simple and focus on one moment you never want to forget.

  • Milestone collage: Baby + dad photos from the past year.
  • “You’re doing great” note: Simple text-forward template with a supportive message.
  • Keep-sake design: Minimal layout that’s easy to print and save.
First Father’s Day photo collage card with newborn baby photos, dad holding baby, and centered text ‘It’s Your First Father’s Day!’ on a pastel star background — first-time dad card idea.

8) For a Father Figure (Coach, Mentor, Stepdad, Bonus Dad)

Father’s Day can be for anyone who shows up for you. Choose a clean design and say exactly what their support has meant.

  • Photo + thank-you: One photo (or a symbolic image) + a direct “Thank you for…”
  • Memory highlight: A single moment + one sentence about why it mattered.
  • Classic appreciation card: Neutral design, clean typography, short message.
Father’s Day card templates on a corkboard: ‘Happy Father’s Day’ photo collage, colorful ‘Best Dads Ever’ family photo card, and ‘World’s Greatest Step Dad’ photo card — printable Father’s Day card ideas.

Design Tips to Make Any DIY Card Look Polished (2026)

Here are a few small tweaks that make a big difference:

  • Keep the front short: one headline and one message is plenty.
  • Choose one vibe: funny, classic, minimal, or bold, then stick with it.
  • Add one finishing touch: a frame, a few stickers, or a simple background.
  • Save it your way: send it by text, or print it if you’re giving it in person.

Start Making a Card for Dad

Father’s Day cards don’t have to be complicated to feel meaningful. Start with one of our Father’s Day templates in the PicCollage app, drop in a photo you love, and add a note that sounds like you. A small card can carry a lot of heart.

Happy Father’s Day from PicCollage! There is no better way to show the fathers and father-figures in your lives that you appreciate them than something made just by you. If you’ve never designed a card in PicCollage before, don’t be intimidated. We’ve got you covered! We’re here to show you two ways to effortlessly make a custom card with PicCollage.

Make a Card in 5 Minutes:

Step 1: In the PicCollage app, tap “Cards”.

Step 2: Scroll through a variety of templates for Father’s Day and select the one you like best.

Step 3: Tap the “Photos” icon, and import your desired photo to the template. Adjust the photo size accordingly.

Step 4: Tap “Done” and “Save to Library”.

Step 5: Now all that’s left to do is to print your card, and watch your dad smile as you hand him a custom Father’s Day photo card that he’ll want to bring to work every day!

Make a Card in 15 Minutes:

Now let’s say you want to customize your card even further by designing it from scratch:

Step 1: In the PicCollage app, tap “Freestyle”.

Step 2: Tap the “Backgrounds” icon, and choose a light-colored wallpaper as your base.

Step 3: Tap the “Layout” icon, and in the “Size” tab, choose 1:1 for a square layout, or 2:3 for a rectangular one.

Step 4: Tap the “Photos” icon, and import your desired photo to the template.

Step 5: Double tap the photo and select “Cutout” to begin trimming your photo to your desired shape.

Step 6: Tap the “Stickers” icon and begin decorating your card.

Step 7: Tap the “Text” icon and add some heartfelt words or a short phrase of gratitude for your dad.

Step 8: Once you’re happy with your card’s design, tap “Done” and “Save to Library”.

Step 9: Print your card and for a more personalized touch, feel free to write a heartfelt message at the back of the card!

Protip: Once your card has been saved, select“Freestyle” once again, and import your card as a photo. Lay it on top of a more colorful background to create an illusion of a frame.

If you’re running out of Father’s Day gift ideas or you’re simply on a budget, handing out a custom photo card like the ones above is also a straightforward way to show dad how much you care about him. The best thing about a custom card from you is that it will always be one-of-a-kind!

Father’s Day is a few short days away and you’ve probably gotten a gift, made a reservation at his favorite place, and planned some activities to make the day extra special. But sometimes writing the card, which seems so simple, can be the trickiest part! You want to tell dad how much he means to you, but you don’t want to get too sappy, right? We have a few ideas to help out:

  1. Find a great quote! There are lots of sweet quotes about dads out there. You don’t have to use your own words to express how much he means to you! (Find some quote inspo here.)
  2. Add photos!  There’s no better way to personalize your card than to add photos of you and dear old dad. Choose a few of your favorites and you’ll be halfway there to creating something he’ll cherish.
  3. Make it fun! With our dad-themed sticker and background packs, you can easily create something that will make him smile, whether you’re adding cartoon mustaches to your photos or turning him into Superman (or Superdad, that is).

Be sure to check out our Father’s Day card templates that make creating your card super easy.

Speaking of stickers, we have TONS of Father’s Day sticker packs to help enhance your cards and collages. From funny to sweet to downright adorable (hello, Studio Pets Happy Father’s Day pack), there are plenty of options to give your collage the perfect finishing touch.

So go on, show dad how much you love him this Father’s Day!
