Trendy Halloween Card Styles to Try

This year’s Halloween trends mix classic with contemporary. From vintage scrapbook vibes to fresh modern aesthetics, these four styles will help you create cards that perfectly capture your Halloween spirit.

Scrapbook Halloween

There’s something special about cards that look like you spent the afternoon crafting them by hand! Layer your favorite Halloween photos with decorative butterflies, autumn leaves, and handwritten-style lettering for that authentic scrapbook feel. These designs work beautifully when you have multiple Halloween moments to share – think costume fittings and trick-or-treat prep all combined into one meaningful card.

Classic Halloween

Traditional Halloween never goes out of style! Carved jack-o’-lanterns grinning on front porches, friendly ghosts floating through moonlit scenes, and that iconic orange-and-black color combo that instantly says “Halloween” – these timeless elements work for everyone. Whether you’re sending cards to your Halloween-obsessed neighbor or your coworker who keeps decorations simple, classic designs strike just the right festive note. Check out our “Halloween” template collection for designs that capture this timeless charm.

A horizontal Halloween-themed image with a purple and black chevron background. On the left, a purple and orange frame with bats and jack-o'-lanterns surrounds two photos: a dachshund dog wearing a pumpkin hat and a person in a ghost costume with sunglasses. On the right, a person in a ghost costume holds a jack-o'-lantern. The words "TRICK OR TREAT" are written across the ghost, and a spiderweb with lights is in the top corner.

Dark Academia Halloween

Dark Academia is for those who love their Halloween with a dash of mystery and sophistication! Rich burgundy backgrounds, antique textures, and gothic elegance transform your photos into something that belongs in a Victorian novel. Browse our “Halloween” template collection to find designs that capture this moody, scholarly spookiness.

A woman with long dark hair, wearing a black lace top and a crown of black roses, holds a white candle and a small pumpkin. Her makeup is dramatic with dark red lipstick. The background is a spooky, black-and-white illustration of bare tree branches and flying birds. The word "NEVERMORE" is written in bold, stylized letters at the top.

Y2K Halloween Nostalgia

Are you looking for some early 2000s throwback fun? Bright neon colors, chunky digital fonts, and that slightly chaotic energy that made everything feel extra exciting back in the day. This playful style loves phone photos, casual costume shots, and anything that captures the pure joy of Halloween without taking itself too seriously.

A vibrant, vertical Y2K-themed Halloween collage. The background is a mix of purple, orange, and black, with sparkly disco balls. The text "HALLOWEEN" is spelled out in pink and black blocks, and a large "BOO!" is in the center with a glittery effect. The collage includes: a black and white image of a person wearing a witch hat and holding a strand of lights, framed by a digital camera; a pair of shiny silver boots; a close-up of lips with fangs; and a photo of two people with carved pumpkins on their heads, framed by a silver heart-shaped frame. The phrase "BITE ME!" is written in a hot pink, glowing font at the bottom.

Halloween Cards for Everyone in Your Life

Whether you’re making cards for your closest friends or sending spooky greetings to coworkers, Halloween is about sharing the fun with everyone who matters. Here are some Halloween card ideas tailored to the special people in your life:

BFF

Want to make a card for your besties? Make no bones about it, this adorable template is the perfect design to highlight your costumes and make people say “#SquadGhouls!”

A tall, rectangular digital greeting card with a textured, tan-colored background. The card itself is black with two photos at the top and a drawing at the bottom. The top photo, positioned at a slight angle, shows two women smiling and holding a blue balloon in front of a shiny, silver backdrop. The second photo, also angled, shows the same two women sitting together and smiling. Below the photos, the phrase "Rollin' with my Boneys" is written in a playful, white font. Below the text, three colorful skeletons on roller skates are drawn in a childlike style, each with a different pattern on their clothes and a cheerful expression. The entire card is surrounded by a sparkling, glittery border.

Partner

Show your Boo how much you love them this Halloween with a playful card that’s the sweet and spooky mix they’ll adore. Head to the “Halloween” template category to see all the romantic options that balance cute with just the right amount of spookiness – because nothing says “I love you” like a well-crafted Halloween pun!

A digital image showing two vertical Halloween cards on a sparkling, textured background.

The card on the left is purple with a pattern of pink stars and bats. A large heart-shaped frame at the top contains a photo of a man and a young girl both wearing witch hats. A smaller photo below shows the same man and girl posing with a pumpkin. Glittery purple tape and a ghost sticker with the text "cute but psycho but cute" are also on the card.

The card on the right is a dark gray color with a white border around a photo of a man and a woman laughing while wearing witch hats. Above the photo, a ghost sticker floats next to the text "Hey boo,". Below the photo, another ghost sticker floats next to the text "I love you!".

Co-Worker

Looking for Halloween card ideas for the office? If you want to pass around cards at work (or share them on Slack), we have tons of workplace-appropriate templates that bring festive fun without being too over-the-top. Add in a cute picture from your Halloween happy hour and voilà – you’re the office Halloween hero!

A square Halloween greeting card with a bright, pink-to-green gradient border. The background is a mix of tan and sparkling pink glitter. The card features a single photo of four friends in Halloween costumes. From left to right: a woman with zombie-like makeup, a man with fake fangs and a vampire cape holding a ghost-shaped bottle, a woman with devil horns holding a pumpkin with "BOO" on it, and a bearded man winking and sticking out his tongue. Below the photo, the white text "WISHING YOU A VERY SPOOKY HALLOWEEN!" is written in a playful font, with two small ghost icons next to the word "SPOOKY."

Baby

Commemorate first Halloweens with these adorable templates that highlight baby’s first costume moments! Because really, is there anything cuter than a baby in a Halloween costume? We don’t think so – and neither will everyone who receives your card.

A digital image displaying two square Halloween cards on a sparkling, textured background.

The card on the left has a purple border decorated with a candy corn pattern. The text "1st HALLOWEEN" is written in bold, orange and white letters. Inside the card, a mother dressed in a witch costume holds a baby dressed as a bat. The background is a warm-toned living room with glowing lights.

The card on the right has a light orange border. The text "MY FIRST HALLOWEEN" is written in a playful, white font, with a small pumpkin icon. Inside the card, a young boy smiles and hugs a baby dressed in a red costume with a black bat hood. Pumpkins are visible on the floor in the background.

Pets

Transform your pet into the Halloween character of your dreams with our new Magic Effects! Can’t get Fluffy to wear that witch hat? No problem – our Halloween pet effects instantly dress up your pet without any hassle! Choose from adorable options like pirate, princess, bee, or pumpkin to create Halloween cards featuring your wonderfully dressed pets (no treats required for cooperation!).

How to Make Halloween Collage Cards from Scratch

Making Halloween collage cards from scratch gives you total creative control over every element. Follow these simple steps to build custom cards that showcase your Halloween memories exactly the way you envision them.

Step 1: Choose Your Foundation

Select a spooky background from our Halloween background packs to set the mood for your card. Here are some great starting points:

  • “Cute Halloween” background pack for adorable, family-friendly vibes
  • “Monster’s Mayhem” or ”FairyTales” backgrounds packs for photo-realistic looks
  • “Halloween is Calling” background pack for classic traditional Halloween

💡Pro tip: Dark textures work great for scary cards, lighter ones for cute cards

Step 2: Add Your Photos + Videos

Upload your favorite Halloween photos and videos – think costume reveals, decorations, pumpkin carving sessions, or trick-or-treat adventures. Use our Cutout tool to single out your photos or cut them into fun shapes like hearts and stars to match your Halloween collage theme.

Step 3: Layer Halloween Stickers

Browse our Halloween sticker packs to add themed decorations around your photos. Try the ”Halloween Scrapbook” sticker pack for authentic layered looks. Mix different sizes of bat, ghost, spider, and pumpkin stickers to create visual interest and depth in your design.

Step 4: Add Personal Text

Choose from our collection of Halloween fonts to add spooky messages or sweet sentiments. Use the Doodle tool to add handwritten touches like arrows pointing to costume details, speech bubbles with Halloween jokes, or personal notes that make your card special.

Step 5: Apply Effects & Final Touches

Add overlays like cobwebs or colored smoke to create atmosphere. Adjust colors to match your Halloween theme – maybe boost those orange and purple tones or add a vintage filter. Layer multiple elements for depth, but remember that sometimes less is more.

A looping GIF showing a Halloween card being created on a smartphone using the PicCollage app. The background is a bright orange surface with small white stars, a burning candle, and a moth stamp. The phone's screen shows the card-making process. First, a purple and black background with pumpkins and bats is selected. Next, two photos are added: one of a dog in a pumpkin hat and another of a person in a ghost costume. Then, a Halloween stickers are placed on the card, followed by the addition of a frame and filters to the photos. The final card is a vertical collage with Halloween themes.

Last-Minute Halloween Card Tips

Running short on time but still want to send something special? Don’t worry – you can create amazing Halloween cards even when you’re down to the wire. Here are some quick tips to get beautiful results fast.

Quick Creation Tips

Halloween phone wallpapers are the perfect way to get into the spooky spirit! From adding your favorite Halloween quotes to making matching wallpapers with your bestie, we have tons of ideas in this blog post for you to explore! The best part? You can whip up these festive designs in minutes using PicCollage’s easy-to-use tools and Halloween-themed content!

  1. Create Matching Halloween Wallpapers with Your Bestie
  2. Halloween Phone Wallpaper Styles to Match Your Personality
  3.  Add Spooky Quotes to Your Halloween Wallpapers
  4.  Design Your Own Halloween Wallpaper Backgrounds
  5. Use Smoke Overlay to Create Mystical Effects
1. Create Matching Halloween Wallpapers with Your Bestie

Nothing says Halloween squad goals like coordinated phone screens! Create Halloween phone wallpapers that complement each other beautifully. Whether you go for matching themes or coordinating colors, you’ll both have something unique that connects you. It’s such a simple way to celebrate Halloween together, even when you’re apart.

Here are some matching wallpaper ideas to try:

  • Split Design Pairs: One wallpaper features a witch hat, the other shows a cauldron – apart they’re cute, together they tell a story. We used our “Spooky Shimmer” sticker pack below to create this effect – same dark background, different spooky elements scattered around!
  • Same Design, Different Colors: Use the same Halloween template or layout, but each person picks their own color palette – one goes with classic orange and black, the other chooses purple and gold.
  • Matching Pumpkin Personalities: Each wallpaper gets its own carved jack-o’-lantern expression – happy, surprised, mischievous, or spooky.

Pro Tips for Halloween Wallpaper Backgrounds:

  • Open PicCollage and select “Wallpaper” canvas size for proper phone dimensions
  • Choose backgrounds that won’t compete with your app icons for readability
  • Try the “Pages” tool in the app to create both wallpapers side-by-side so you can see how well they match!
A collage shows two smartphones side-by-side, each displaying a matching Halloween-themed wallpaper and lock screen. The wallpapers feature a spooky aesthetic with images of a person with a pumpkin for a head, a full moon, skeletons, ghosts, and other Halloween-related stickers. The text overlay reads "Stickers: 'Spooky Shimmer'". Other Halloween-themed stickers, such as a raven, a bubbling cauldron, and a haunted house, are scattered around the phones on a sparkly, off-white background.

2. Halloween Phone Wallpaper Styles to Match Your Personality

Here’s the thing about Halloween – it means something different to everyone! Maybe you’re all about adorable smiling pumpkins, or perhaps you prefer classic spooky vibes with dramatic shadows. Whether you’re searching for cute Halloween wallpaper designs or something more traditionally eerie, we’ve got styles for every Halloween personality.

Minimalist Halloween Phone Wallpapers

For the minimalist, we’ve got tons of cute stickers that make a statement all by themselves. Sometimes less really is more, and a single well-placed Halloween element can be more striking than a busy design. Just choose a simple background (either a solid color or something with just a bit of texture) and place your favorite sticker smack dab in the middle. Simple and striking.

Cute Halloween Phone Wallpapers

Not everyone wants their Halloween wallpapers to be genuinely scary! Friendly ghosts with rosy cheeks, smiling pumpkins, and pastel colors make these cute Halloween wallpaper designs great for those who want adorable over scary. These designs capture all the fun of Halloween without any of the fright!

Browse our Halloween Template category for ready-made designs, or create your own cute Halloween wallpaper with our Halloween content collection – we recommend you try our “Spooky Pastel” sticker pack and “Spooky Cute” background pack in your next design.

Classic Halloween Phone Wallpapers

Traditional Halloween elements never go out of style! Think vintage horror vibes, timeless symbols like black cats prowling under full moons, and witch silhouettes against dramatic skies. These classic Halloween wallpaper designs work beautifully for those who love the nostalgic side of the season.

Check out our “Halloween” template collection to find the vintage-inspired designs that make timeless Halloween wallpaper backgrounds.

Trendy Halloween Wallpapers

Looking for Halloween wallpapers that feel totally current and shareable? Find designs in the app that capture the styles everyone’s gravitating toward this season – think photo dump layouts, collagecore aesthetics, and those party-ready vibes that are made for sharing your Halloween festivities with friends. You can also use PicCollage to create your own by mixing trending design elements with our Halloween stickers and backgrounds for wallpapers that feel fresh and completely you.

3. Add Spooky Quotes to Your Halloween Wallpapers

A good font pairing can take a quote or phrase to the next level. Choose some cute seasonal copy, set it against a pretty Halloween wallpaper background, and start playing around with fonts! We’ve got over 100 fonts in the app, so you have plenty to choose from!

Halloween Quote Ideas:

  • “Witch Please”
  • “Boo-tiful Inside and Out”
  • “It’s the most Pumpkinny season of all”
  • “Feeling Gourd-geous”
  • “Trick or Treat Yo’ Self”
  • “Too Cute to Spook”

Font Combination Ideas:

  • For a Playful Halloween look, try combining “Dawning New Day” and “The Flowery” – clean modern fonts with whimsical decorative touches for cute Halloween vibes.
  • For an Elegant Halloween style, try combining “Amelia” and “Olive Hand” – classic elegance meets handwritten charm for sophisticated Halloween designs.
  • For a Bold & Dramatic look, try combining “Haunted” and “Cutive” – dramatic spooky font paired with a clean, readable serif for the ultimate Halloween impact.
  • For Festive Fun vibes, try combining “Halloweek” and “Mt. of Christmas” – playful holiday fonts that bring festive energy to your Halloween wallpapers.

4. Design Your Own Halloween Wallpaper Backgrounds

Create your own spook-tacular patterns that stand out from typical Halloween wallpaper options! Simply use our backgrounds or repeat stickers to make your own pattern. One of our favorite tricks to create a fun background is to choose a few of your favorite Halloween stickers and duplicate them multiple times. You can then arrange them in any pattern you want – we used our “Bright Halloween” sticker pack to create a playful pumpkin pattern. So easy, but it looks so professional!

Pattern Ideas:

  • Scattered Bats: Duplicate small bat stickers across a gradient purple background
  • Pumpkin Polka Dots: Create a playful pattern with mini pumpkins on autumn-colored backgrounds
  • Ghost Galaxy: Layer friendly ghosts of different sizes for a whimsical floating effect
  • Witch Hat Magic: Scatter witch hat stickers in a fun, random pattern for an enchanting look

Pro Design Tips:

  • Vary the size of your repeated elements for natural, organic-looking patterns
  • Rotate and angle your stickers in different directions for a dynamic, interesting layout
  • Choose 2-3 colors max to keep your Halloween wallpaper backgrounds cohesive and polished

5. Use Smoke Overlay to Create Mystical Effects

Transform any ordinary Halloween photo into something enchanting with our “Smoke” Overlay ! This effect adds an ethereal, mysterious quality that’s great for Halloween wallpaper backgrounds.

How to Add Smoke Effects:

  1. Add a photo to your Halloween wallpaper
  2. Double tap on your image to open the editing menu
  3. Tap “Edit” then “Filters & Overlays” to switch to the “Overlays” tab
  4. Choose “Smoke” from our overlay collection
  5. Use the slider to adjust the level of smoke and get your desired spooky atmosphere
A smartphone screen shows a user editing a photo collage. A text overlay reads "Tap 'Animate' button" and an animated cursor points to the button at the bottom of the screen. As the user selects "Smoke" from the overlay effects options, a realistic, wispy smoke effect appears over the collage, swirling and dissipating. The collage itself has a dark, spooky theme with images of pumpkins, a full moon, and books. The phone is placed against a background with orange and black stripes.

That’s a wrap for our fun and easy DIY Halloween wallpaper ideas! Which Halloween phone wallpaper style are you most excited to start with? Whether you’re drawn to cute kawaii ghosts, elegant gothic vibes, or spooky smoke effects, your Halloween wallpaper background is just a few taps away.

If you’re throwing a Halloween bash this year, now is the perfect time to start thinking about your party invitations! Whether you want to use one of our sleek and simple templates or you want to start from scratch and create something completely unique, we’ve got you covered. Scroll down to see our step-by-step guides for making easy, medium, and advanced Halloween invites in PicCollage!

Easy

For a beautifully designed invitation that’s as easy as 1-2-3, just follow these steps!

  1. Pick a readymade invitation design from our “Halloween Invitations” template category.
  2. Update the event details to match your needs.
  3. That’s it – you’re ready to send out your adorable invites!

Medium

If you want to use one of our pre-made templates, but add a personal touch with some festive photos, here’s how to do it:

  • Go to the “Halloween” template category and use the filter feature to see the “freestyle” options. (This will show you options with free space for you to add images and stickers.)
  • Add your photo and use the cutout feature to crop the image into a fun shape or remove the background.
  • Add the event details your guests need to know!

Advanced

If you’re feeling extra creative, you can try some advanced techniques to create a completely custom invitation for your Halloween party. Here’s how we made these collages:

Collage on Left:

  • Start from Freestyle
  • Use “Minimal Astrology” background
  • Add a focal point (“Halloween Party” in Halloweek font)
  • Add curve text around the focal point in a contrasting font
  • Use the text color picker to match the color of the text with the colors in the background

Collage on Right:

  • Start from Freestyle
  • Use the stickers from “Colorful Halloween” to make a fun frame around the border of the card
  • Add text for your details using bold, contrasting fonts (We used “Chandelier” for the focal point and date.)

That’s how you can create boo-tiful Halloween invitations at any degree of difficulty. So how are you celebrating the spookiest day of the year? Make your party invitations now by heading over to the app and seeing all of our devilishly delightful designs!

Black & White

This black and white Halloween party invite is giving us chills in the best way. And when you use a black and white photo? Perfection. If you’re throwing a party this year, look no further than this invite template.

Classic Orange and Black

If you’re going for a classic look, it doesn’t get any better than orange and black! This adorable orange template with spiderweb detail is a perfect option to highlight your favorite trick or treating moments!
